OHV Operating Regulations
Don't drink and operate your OHV—DUI laws apply to off-highway operation also.
Ride in authorized areas only. Trespass laws apply in certain land holdings and road closures and are citable offenses.
Be aware of county air quality ordinances, particularly in Maricopa and Pinal counties.
Youths under 18 years of age may not operate, ride on, or ride in an OHV unless they are wearing a properly fitted and fastened U.S. DOT–approved helmet.
Lights are required when operating during hours of darkness.
Travel is limited to authorized roads, trails, and areas that are designated open by the land management agency for motorized vehicle use.
Travel by motorized vehicles that causes damage to wildlife habitat, riparian areas, cultural or natural resources, or property or improvements is prohibited.
These activities are illegal:
- Reckless operation
- Vandalism
- Harassment of wildlife from motorized vehicles
All operators are required to wear eye protection while operating an OHV, unless the vehicle is equipped with a protective windshield.
