Big Game: Alligator
Modern-day alligator hunting began in 2007 after approval from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
- In addition to the added sporting opportunity for Arkansans, alligator hunting helps control alligator populations and reduce nuisance animal complaints from alligators expanding into populated areas.
- A random permit draw each year allows individuals to participate in harvesting an alligator. The application for permits take place in June, and the season takes place in September.
- Check the AGFC big game hunting website for specific information on alligator hunts.
