Non-Toxic Shot Regulations in Alaska
- Hunters must use non-toxic shot statewide for hunting all migratory birds: swans, geese, ducks, sandhill cranes, and snipe. Hunters who have shells loaded with lead while hunting migratory birds are in violation.
- Shot larger than size T (0.20" diameter) is prohibited for migratory bird hunting.
- Non-toxic shot also is required for muzzleloading shotguns.
- Any alternative non-toxic shot (such as steel, bismuth, tungsten, etc.) approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is legal for migratory bird hunting in Alaska.
